Beyond the Basics & Next Step in Director Training
Today Condominium Directors are required to complete a brief and basic on-line course, at a minimum, through the Condominium Authority of Ontario (CAO). CCI Eastern Ontario Director’s Training takes you “Beyond the Basics” and is the “Next Step” to dive deep into all aspects of the legal duties and responsibilities of Directors. Experts in condominium law and management will walk participants through detail, case law and practical interpretations. Questions between experts and participants are key features of this comprehensive learning experience. Directors will be provided with detailed materials for reference to support them in their new and important role.
This Advanced Director’s Course is in four (4) parts! (Advanced course material not covered by the Condominium Authority of Ontario’s online Director Training.

Christy is one of the founding partners of Davidson Houle Allen LLP.
She provides a full range of corporate and litigation services to condominium directors, managers, owners, and insurers. She also represents co-tenancy associations, and gives advice with respect to co-tenancies’ governing documents.
Christy’s work includes building deficiency actions, proceedings involving difficult owners and tenants, collection and lien proceedings, including power of sale, as well as matters involving the enforcement of property rights. She also has experience with construction law.

Eileen Boles joined Condominium Management Group team in 2011. Her career in the condominium industry began in 2006, starting in Administration and then moving onto Condominium Property Management in 2007. Eileen is a graduate of St. Thomas University, the Ontario Real Estate College and has completed her requirements for the Registered Condominium Manager (RCM) designation in 2015, providing further proof of her dedication to the condominium management profession, her clients and their condominiums. She has built a trusting working relationship with all her condominium Board of Directors and owners and truly enjoys her job.

Richard Elia had been actively involved in the area of condominium law for over 20 years, advancing the objective of effective and ethical advocacy. Founded in 2001, Elia Associates provides legal services to condominium communities throughout Ontario.
Richard holds a Master of Law with a focus on Appropriate Dispute Resolution and the “A.C.C.I.” - Associate of the Canadian Condominium Institute - designation, which is the country’s only condo-specific designation for condominium professionals. This designation evidences Richard’s extensive condominium knowledge.
He has contributed to condominium-related legislative initiatives surrounding the creation, review and implementation of both Bill 38, which became the Condominium Act, 1998, and Bill 106, Protecting Condominium Owners Act, 2015. He created and led a Joint Government Relations Committee, which was comprised of representatives from the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario, all Ontario chapters of the Canadian Condominium Institute and other condominium stakeholders across the province in developing a dispute resolution model to specifically address community conflict in condominiums. Before its submission to the Government of Ontario, the model was endorsed by all Ontario chapters of the Canadian Condominium Institute, the ADR Institute of Ontario and the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (who recognized Richard as their 2012 Associate of the Year for his contribution).
Richard has written extensively and has spoken across the province at a variety of courses, seminars and conferences about condominium issues. He is passionate about condominium education. He readily volunteers his time to increase awareness among condominium unit owners in the belief that an engaged and informed approach will serve to better manage community-based conflict and will help build stronger condominium communities.

Nadia is a highly motivated and achievement-oriented real estate professional with an impressive 40 years of hands-on expertise in the real estate industry; offering a wealth of experience and knowledge in managing multiple residential, condominium and commercial properties. Nadia is a Judge for the Canadian Federation Housing Awards as well as a Supreme Court appointed Administrator/Inspector.
Nadia was part of the Condominium Management Regulatory of Ontario (CMRAO), Stakeholder Condominium Implementation Working Group, implementing changes to the Act.
She has been appointed by the CMRAO to hear complaints or appeals filed with the Discipline Committee and the Appeals Committee and is a committee member for preparing course documents and competencies for both Limited Licensees and General Licensees.

Vincenza has put her skills as facilitator, team builder and mentor to use in the condominium sector (after retiring from a career in technology development and regulations). As Board president of her condominium, a new build condo resident and non-resident owner in Ottawa, she has first-hand knowledge of the challenges faced by Boards as they tackle the known and the unknown in navigating the complex world of turnovers, warranty claims, evolving regulatory environment and ongoing community building.

Nancy is one of the founding partners of Davidson Houle Allen LLP. Her practice includes general corporate advice to condominium corporations, financing and secured transactions, construction law, building deficiency litigation, and proceedings involving disputes between condominium corporations and residents. Nancy is the current President of CCI Eastern Ontario Chapter.
Speaker Bio:
Yawar Khan is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Capital Integral Property Management and currently deals with the residential real estate management division, strategic planning and business development. He is an RCM and has a B.Sc. (Honors) in Biology and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Ottawa.
Yawar has over 22 years of progressive management experience. His diverse experiences include start-up operations, business analysis, business development and governance. He has managed significant budgets, developed and implemented best practices in various corporate environments.
In his current role, Yawar actively manages properties and oversees the operations of the remainder of the residential portfolio.

Shelley has been involved in Condominium Management since 2006, in which she obtained her RCM designation. She joined CMG in 2009. Her past experience in industrial, retail, and Condominium Sectors enables her to facilitate, manage and communicate well with her team, owners and contractors. In 2017, Shelley was selected by her peers to be the Resource and Compliance Manager. This role has introduced many changes to the CMG team and clients, she looks forward to the new challenges. Shelley joined the CCI-EO Board of Directors in Fall 2019.

Justin is the President and Senior Project Manager at Keller Engineering, a multi-discipline building science and envelope firm that has been providing tailored engineering investigatory and project management services with a focus on condominium restoration since 1982. He has more than 15 years of experience in the field of building science and structural engineering.
Justin has overseen and completed hundreds of reserve fund studies, building conditions assessments, and technical audits, while leading building element investigation including odour transfers, cladding failures, water infiltration, concrete, masonry deterioration and membrane replacements.
As a contract administrator, Justin prepares drawings and specifications for the structural rehabilitations, window and roofing replacements, parking renewals, and envelope restorations.

Michael holds a Masters of Business Administration from Queen’s University and is a Certified Property Manager.
